REVIEW OF
BLISS
BY
TRACY BOWEN & JENNESS WALKER
Right off, I’m going to say that Bliss is one of the most delightful stories I’ve ever read. Tracy Bowen and Jenness Walker must be in perfect sync to be able to pull off their unique writing style and keep it consistent throughout the book.
In Bliss, Indie Moore never makes a move, until she reads her daily horoscope. One day, she feels it has advised her to move to South Florida to find ultimate happiness. But instead, accident-prone Indie finds herself in a home in a trailer park, a job scrubbing toilets, and a moody roommate. Not quite what she’d envisioned for herself. But after making some Christian friends, and attending their church, she figures maybe bliss looks a little different than she’d thought.
Indie Moore is such a fun character. She’s vibrant, colorful, and very talented. So are all of the secondary characters. Take, for instance, the next-door neighbor they call “Granny.” Every day she washes and hangs out overalls on a line in her yard so that imaginary conspirators would think her husband was still alive and living with her. The dialogue is snappy; even the internal dialogue. Bliss is fast-paced, and a good thing; I was reluctant to put it down. A BIG thumbs up for this one!
