REVIEW OF
A TIME TO SURRENDER
BY SALLY JOHN & GARY SMALLEY
It happens every time. I’ll be reading one of Sally John’s works, not having gotten very far, and I already find myself getting choked up and reaching for the tissues. I’m a goner for the rest of the book.
The characters aren’t embroiled in syrupy, corny situations. Sally has a unique talent for using simple situations to execute scenes that capture the reader’s heart to the very end of the story.
This third, and last, installment in the Safe Harbor series is no exception. A Time to Surrender is centered on Jenna and Danny, oldest and youngest offspring of Max and Claire Beaumont. As Jenna’s husband, Kevin, is deployed overseas, she struggles with her resentment of his leaving her to enlist in the Marines. In her loneliness, she is drawn to another man.
Danny becomes enchanted with a new cook who mysteriously shows up at the Hacienda Hideaway. But her past could destroy the fragile relationship they begin to build.
While Dr. Gary Smalley is a relationships expert, Sally John expertly writes stories about relationships. Together they are a formidable force in the publishing world. Don’t miss this book!
