REVIEW OF
MICHAL
BY
JILL EILEEN SMITH
This book about the first wife of King David was expertly done. I never thought that a novel about two Biblical characters, whose story I know inside out, would keep me so engrossed. But I couldn’t stop turning those pages.
The attention to detail by author, Jill Eileen Smith, really paid off. I had no trouble imagining each city where a part of the story took place, from Gibeah to Jerusalem. And the way she handled King Saul’s behavior once the Holy Spirit left him was exceptional.
What I liked most about this book was how Jill filled in the blanks for us on the parts the Bible doesn’t reveal. Yes, they’re fictionalized, but they make so much sense, you wonder if things didn’t really happen that way. The events are entirely believable.
If you like Biblical fiction, this book is for you. Even if you are not a great fan of Biblical fiction, but love stories from the Bible, you will perhaps become a follower of Jill Eileen Smith’s work. She has two more books being released in The Wives of King David series, and I can’t wait to see what wonders she does with them!
