Review of
A Passion Most Pure
By Julie Lessman
Using the word “Passion” in the title of this book was an excellent choice, because the story contains a ton of it. It stirred up my own passion, as well.
In 1916 Boston, Faith O’Connor finds herself in love with her childhood friend, Collin McGuire, now the town rogue. Collin is from the wrong side of town and Faith’s father forbids her to see him. The bigger problem is that Collin is secretly courting Faith’s sister, Charity. Soon Collin’s affections shift to Faith, which threatens to tear the family apart.
Everything about A Passion Most Pure is fantastic. The characters are so finely drawn, I got lost in their world. The setting, perfectly described, took me to places I’d never been to, yet made me feel as though I were there. And the romance! Chock full of it. With each page I turned, my emotions were wrung tighter and tighter. The twists and turns of the plot kept me on the edge of my seat. The author expertly demonstrates the need for living a God-centered life, and the consequences and ramifications we encounter when we don’t. I couldn’t put this book down and I can’t say enough good things about it.
I highly recommend A Passion Most Pure. It’s one of those books you’ll want to add to your personal library and read many times over.
