This month, Mary Ball has stopped by to chat about her book, Christmas at Angel Ranch. Welcome, Mary, I’m so pleased to feature you on my website.
Thank you Deborah. I look forward to chatting with you and meeting everyone.
Mary, I read on your website that fishing is one of your favorite pastimes. Do you and your husband fish together? Do you go often?
Yes, we’re avid anglers. We have a lake membership close to home and we go to the coast often to saltwater fish. As much as I enjoy the sport, I don’t go in cold weather even though hubby wishes I would. My basement has become a catchall for our rods and lures. It could substitute for a fishing and tackle store. :)
I heard you’ve been writing for a long time, but began your career as an author in 2012. How long before that had you been writing?
In the early 2000’s I started writing non-fiction Christian articles. That led to me creating fictional stories.
Mary, please tell us a little about Christmas at Angel Ranch.
Christmas at Angel Ranch is the first book I’ve written that I didn’t need to do any research on. It’s set in the NC Mountains, a place I visit frequently. The book encompasses a hunting lodge and includes aspects about the sport. My hubby is a deer hunter so I’ve heard many accounts about his ventures, which finally came in handy. ☺ Below is the blurb.
Kayla is a home designer for a well-known company, or was, until a police raid proves the decorating company is laundering money. The investigation shows her innocence, but she's without a job and no prospects for employment.
To get away from the dishonesty surrounding her, Kayla returns home to the mountains of North Carolina to help with the family business until the New Year.
Angel Ranch is a hunting lodge that caters to elite hunters, and Reed Jessup is ready to trade in his corner office for a few weeks of R&R. He arrives with his rifle and a trophy buck on his mind.
When Kayla and Reed meet, two mistrusting hearts collide. Can love prevail, or will it take a Christmas miracle?
What do you hope readers will take away from reading your book?
Life has obstacles that we sometimes envision as setbacks. I hope to encourage readers that change can be good. God always has a plan for our lives and if we trust in His guidance things work out.
What can we expect from you next?
I’m glad you asked. I recently signed another contract with my favorite publisher, Prism Book Group. Sparks of Love is an inspirational romance with a slice of suspense, tentatively scheduled for a midsummer release. I’d like to share the blurb.
Lynette Cunningham walked away from her hometown and God for ten years. Now, a phone call from her father offers hope of changing a terrible wrong and clearing her name from slander. She agrees to return but before she does tragedy strikes. Fire destroys her childhood home and kills her father.
While Lynette sorts through the ruins and hunts for clues she contends with the new pastor, Price Fletcher and faces two things that scare her most. The past and a man of God.
Can Lynette acknowledge her love for a man who represents the One she believes let her down? Will she stay alive long enough to prove her innocence?
