AN INTERVIEW WITH LYNETTE EASON
Romantic suspense author, Lynette Eason is back to chat up her latest book, Too Close To Home.
Welcome, Lynette! It’s a pleasure to have you back.
Thank you so much! It’s a definite pleasure to be back.☺ Thanks for being so patient with me!
On a pod cast interview, you stated that when your daughter was six months old, and your husband was traveling, you decided to just sit yourself down and write while you had the time. Had you studied anything about writing before that, or did you learn as you went?
I learned as I went. (Where did you find that podcast, btw?) I had a story running around in my head so I just dusted off the old dinosaur laptop and went to work. (It was AWFUL, but I learned tons just by doing it!)
I’ve read on your Web site about how you come up with elements in your novels. For characterization, you’ve said you try to picture the people who would fit your story. Does that mean you usually start with your story idea?
Yes and no. It’s funny how I wind up with a story idea. Usually, I see something on television or in a movie or sometimes the headline of a newspaper and my brain just seems to go to work automatically. Once I start that, I come up with the characters who fit into the story. HOWEVER, before I can actually sit down and start working on the story, I have to get to know my characters. I used to fill out a character chart, now I just do a kind of stream of consciousness paragraph about the character. Once that’s finished, I go back and read through it, deleting, adding, etc, until I’m happy with it. Then the story can begin.
Lynette, please tell us about Too Close to Home.
Here’s the back cover blurb:
The FBI has a secret weapon. But now the secret’s out.
When missing teens begin turning up dead in a small Southern town, the FBI sends in computer forensics expert Samantha Cash to help crack the case. Her methods are invisible, and she never quits until the case is closed.
Homicide detective Connor Wolfe has his hands full. His relationship with his headstrong daughter is in a tailspin, and the string of unsolved murders has the town demanding answers. Connor is running out of ideas—and time.
Samantha joins Connor in a race against the clock to save the next victim. And the killer starts to get personal.
Too Close to Home ratchets up the suspense with each page even as love blossoms in the face of danger. Read this one with the lights on!

What gave you the idea for the Women of Justice series?
I was watching a movie on television where teens were being lured into the prostitution business through a phony modeling agency. I took that idea and morphed it into the story that I wanted.
I’m going to change direction, for a moment. A bio I read stated you married “the boy next door.” Was Jack Eason literally your neighbor, or were you describing him as a person?
LOL. No, he was literally my neighbor. He came over one night after he’d just moved in and asked to borrow a can opener. He was having soup for supper. He had on a John 3:16 shirt. I boldly asked him if he was a Christian and he said he was. I knew he was the one for me from that night on. It took him two years to figure it out, though.
You’ve also said he is your web and marketing guy. How is that working out for you? Does it take a lot of pressure off?
Yes! He’s great. I just tell him what I need and he pretty much drops what he’s doing to
get it done for me. He’s the best!
What can we expect from you next, Lynette?
Don’t Look Back is the second book in the Women of Justice Series. I can’t WAIT for readers to see this one!
Please tell us where you can be found on the web.
My website is www.lynetteeason.com and my email is lynetteeason@lynetteeason.com. I’m also on facebook.
Last question. A “just-for-fun” one. You sometimes take pictures for your church’s directory. Is photography a hobby? Have you had any formal training? (Oops! Sorry, that was two questions.)
LOL. I did that ONE TIME. I’ve been trying to have that removed from my bio, but apparently it takes an act of God to change your bio once they have it in their system. And it was a hobby, no formal training at all.
Thank you for dropping by, Lynette. As always, it’s been fun learning more about you and your books. I want to thank our readers for stopping by, also.
Thank you all! It’s been so much fun, Deb, I appreciate it!
